Boehner says some of the dumbest people are in Congress.


             I watched CSPAN a lot during the health care 'debate'. I'd see Boehner and friends in mark up meetings,trying to knock the effort off track. I also remember when Pelosi was speaker, and they were working on an important energy bill. Boehner called for the 'reading of the bill", which forces the secretary to read the whole bill out loud, with all arcane references. It took over 8 HOURS. When it came time for the vote, he and his colleagues weren't there.
He went on Fox and CNN to say Pelosi was going to keep them in session and force them to miss Christmas break, like a child whining about mommy making him do his homework. All the right wing punkits yammered about mean, evil, bitchy Nancy. Then when she said she WASN'T going to make people stay..."Go home, have a Merry Christmas, and see you next year", he immediately held a press conference in front of about 50 mics, with Mr Turtlehead next to him, whining that "Pelosi turned off the mics and the lights...WE wanted to continue working...We're willing to stay and work...she should call everyoneback...evil, mean Nancy."
Now they act like 60 votes to get anything done is normal, but it's just 'Give us what we want or we will stick a fork in an outlet and tell Fox that YOU turned out the lights."

Worth and worthless....

You ever think about how the GOP tells us that they want to give us 'opportunity', that we can all be rich too?...then tell us that when disaster happens, don't help each other...get your guns? We're sold the idea of money determining or being a measure of our worth, our value, then we see people like Beck, Lush Rimjob, Hannity, making MILLIONS peddling hate, delusion, sedition, and mental illness. One of the richest men in the world made his money off of hard working immigrants trying to send money home to help their families (Mexico). How is that any different than glorifying Bernie Madoff, or a druglord? I think some of the wealthiest people in the world ran toward the victims of the Boston explosions; volunteer for the Red Cross; help people get back on their feet after a hurricane...WITHOUT getting paid to do so. Too many want to run to the economic past that doesn't exist

Some say that we must get tougher in the world market, because other countries subsidize their industries. They say that we need a level playing field, or that consumers need to 'buy American'. I think it's all a diversion. Why invoke the past when the 'playing field' is more like a constantly shifting ocean? We also subsidize our businesses.  We give them all sorts of tax breaks and allow them to shelter their incomes in foreign repositories. Why vilify your fellow citizens who had nothing to do with these upper level policies and idiocy? Examples; Steel We gave our steel industry away, and it had NOTHING to do with consumers. The dinosaur steel industry whined to their political hacks through their lobbyists to get subsidies and suppots to stay alive and squeeze out a few more dollars out of the old machinery, when in reality they should have died out.
